Our facility has the central theme of increasing participation and enjoyment wheeled sports for all - regardless of age, background, or ability. Ellon Wheel Park aims to combine benefits, such as improved health & wellbeing, active travel, positive community relationships, reducing barriers to accessing sport, and inspiring future sporting stars. The purpose-built facility aims to provide a vibrant, friendly area for individuals and groups to meet, try new activities, develop skills, and strengthen the community. Create a facility that can be utilised to deliver road cycle training for all abilities and ages. Increase confidence and awareness of cycle safety on roads. Increase levels of participation in sport and activity that will in turn improve physical and mental health. Embed the ethos of wheeled sports as an integral part of society that is inclusive and accessible. Create a facility that is safe for those with disabilities / additional support needs to engage and enjoy wheeled activities alongside their peers. Encourage diversity in wheeled sports such as women’s training sessions, working with refugee resettlement group, providing ‘turn up and try’ events. Work in collaboration with organisations and initiatives to bring alternative activities to those who may be disengaged with ‘conventional’ sports. Improve the travel habits in our developing integrated travel town (ITT) and increase the level of sustainable travel.
