About us
The Salima Animal Trust Tangier (SATT) is a UK-registered charity dedicated to the welfare of animals in Tangier, Morocco. SATT collaborates with registered animal charities in the Tangier area, such as SFT Animal Sanctuary, to provide urgent medical care, rescue operations, education, sterilization programs for the stray animal population and fully supports Project Hayat in the eradication of rabies.
Project Hayat is about protecting all. Rabies is a big problem in Morocco, and in the past Morocco's solution has been to cull the dogs, not only to reduce the canine and feline population but also to decrease the threat of rabies. Rabies is 99% fatal however it is also 100% preventable and Project Hayat is proof of this.
We at SATT are fully behind this project because it protects everyone. It involves education which is so important but also involves CNVR (catch, neuter, vaccinate and release), also known as TNVT ( treat (parasites), neuter (sterilize/castrate, vaccinate against rabies and identify with a yellow tag with identification number) and with this tag, the dogs are saved from culling.
Through TNVT the dogs are caught in a loving way, then are taken to the clinic to be treated, sterilized, vaccinated and tagged. The dogs then recover in the SFT house until ready to be returned to their territories or the SFT Sanctuary where they are cared for by a dedicated staff in a nurturing environment.
