Vivid Roots Collective is a Highland theatre company working towards a future where the Highlands has a thriving culture of professional theatre-making. We do this by inspiring artists to pursue theatre careers from the Highlands – creating professional opportunities for and supporting the creative development of local and emerging theatre-makers. We facilitate workshops, create original theatre in and for the region, and deliver an annual festival to support new skills and networking. By supporting a growing culture of professional theatre-making in the Highlands, we believe that we can contribute to tackling regional depopulation by improving the cultural offering of the area and creating more job opportunities for local artists, championing the Highlands as a place to live and work. Our work provides benefit to Highland theatre-makers, audiences, and organisations. Since our conception in 2020, we have delivered paid roles for 52 emerging artists, 11 established artists, and 6 mentors; opportunities for 9 volunteers; and engaged over 300 audience members. We have also engaged over 60 research participants, and delivered workshops with young people and teams in schools and arts organisations across the Highlands.
