Story

On the 9th of August this year (2018) 3 days before Jack’s 14th birthday and 2 days before our well overdue family holiday, Jack’s Mum and Dad got told the most devastating words that no Mum and Dad should ever be told.. Your son has a tumour in his wrist and they think it is bone cancer.

Shortly after that Jack went through numerous amounts of tests, scans, blood tests and a biopsy to confirm that he does have a rare, aggressive bone cancer called osteosarcoma.

Jack is now going through a very intense course of chemotherapy and surgery for as long as it takes to get rid of this horrible disease. This is resulting in Jack spending 90% of the next year in hospital.

Jack is an amazing boy that despite all of his treatment, hospital stays, illness, sickness, fatigue and tiredness has still kept his cheeky, witty, funny, loving character. He is the strongest boy I’ve ever known and we are all so proud of him.

I know there is nothing we can do to take this away from him no matter how much we wish we could, but I would like your help to raise some money for him..

Anyone who knows Jack will know he LOVES computers and gaming. I sat with Jack at the hospital the other week and we were talking about the ‘make a wish foundation’ when he finally gets to the remission stage. Jack told me if he could make a wish then he would ask for a computer and went on to explain this computer he would love, with all these fancy words which I didn’t understand. I got to the bottom of what he would like and it cost’s anywhere between £2500-£5000.

It got me thinking that if there is any time that he would benefit from something like this it would be while he is going through this terrible time and confined to being at home the little time he is allowed out of hospital.

My sister and I would like to raise money for our brother by doing a crazy 100mile bike ride over 2 days along the coast. Anyone that would like to join in you are more than welcome. I will be training my lazy, over weight self back into shape over the next couple of months and aiming to do this bike ride around January time.

If we manage to exceed all expectations and raise more than needed for the computer then all remaining funds will go straight to the childrens cancer ward that is looking after Jack and so many other children.

Let’s get together and help lift Jack’s spirits!

Jack and his auntie Charlotte have named his tumour ‘burtrude the b*tch’ so let‘s stand together and kick burtrudes butt!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for any donations, it means so much to us.

All my love,

Emily & family xxxx
