Story

Once the administrative centre for the Forest of Dean, St Briavels village now has little woodland. I would like to creat a space to encourage more wildlife and re-establish the ancient habitat. For example, by replacing shrubs along the hedges, we create hedgehogs and dormice highways to screen them on the move.

The Woodland Trust are in the process of surveying the land to make recommendations of which trees would fit. The link shows the type of tree packs available and the costs: https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/plant-trees/packs/ (I like the look of the Harvest Pack - I’m thinking Hope Farm Slow Gin in a few years!)

Individual tree prices range from £1 to £5, plus the cost of stakes and protective sleeves. Any contribution towards this project would be gratefully received - including offers to help with planting!

When I have made the order, I can tell you what trees you have helped buy, send you a certificate of your living legacy and invite you to our planting hog roast in the Autumn!

It’s the birthday present that just keeps on giving!
