Story
Hi, my name is Chris, and I have been filling a water container with change for the last 15 years with the goal to donate it once it was filled. Since finally reaching my goal I want to take it that step further and complete a fundraising walk carrying the container in a wheelbarrow from Alder Hey Hospital to Manchester Children's Hospital and back! This is around 75 miles with the bottle weighing 13 st.
When our son Louis was 2 years old, he was rushed into Alder Hey Children's Hospital having a convulsion. Rushing to the hospital from work to see my little boy lying flat on his back, stirring, wide-eyed towards the ceiling, not moving a muscle, was a stomach retching feeling. The doctors decided it was best to put him into an induced coma which lasted for 4 days.
We saw so many life-changing moments during our time between Alder Hey Children Hospital and Manchester Children Hospital. I wanted to give back to these amazing places that looked after us and many others so well.
Your small contributions can massively improve or even save a child's life.
Local celebrities/sports personalities will hopefully be joining me at some point along the way for support.
I'll be walking along East Lancashire Road, there and back so If you see a 54yr old fella, pushing a wheelbarrow down the road, don’t think I’ve lost my mind. I’m just training.
