In June 2020 four volunteer members of Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboat Crew will be undertaking the challenge of travelling to Monte-Carlo in a road going replica of their Severn class lifeboat, 17-20 - Spirit of Northumberland, complete with navigation lights, rotating radar boom and ships horn. Their target is to raise funds towards the refurbishment and life extension of 17-20 and there will be ongoing fundraising in the run up to the rally. The crew members serve on the inshore and all weather boats at Tynemouth and are using a 2002 BMW that’s well on its way to quarter of a million miles already, that will (hopefully) lead them through Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Monte-Carlo.
Sponsorship for companies is available, including branding on the car, the crew are also looking for public donations with all funds raised going to the RNLI to save lives at sea.
