This International Women’s Day, 1BTN is proud to host a special fundraising takeover in support of both 1BTN radio and RISE. Every penny raised will make a real difference as 50% will go directly to RISE, helping to provide life-changing support for those affected by domestic abuse. The other half will empower 1BTN to continue amplifying the voices of women, trans, and non-binary people within our incredible community. Showing your support will help us invest in vital technology, sustain our dedicated team, and keep independent, community radio thriving.

RISE is a Sussex-based domestic violence and abuse charity that has been working since 1994 to end all forms of violence and abuse against women, their families, and those identifying as LGBTQ+. RISE stands for Refuge, Information, Support, and Education, with a mission to create freedom from abuse and violence.

1BTN is Brighton & Hove’s acclaimed not-for-profit radio station and music platform, delivering a diverse, eclectic, and specialised music programming 24/7, since launching in 2015. The voices of female, trans, and non-binary presenters, DJs, and artists are at the core of our broadcast values, 1 World, 1 Love, 1BTN.

The IWD 2025 Theme: Accelerate Action

Focusing on the need to Accelerate Action emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

When we inspire others to understand and value inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women, trans, and non-binary people are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. This is what 1BTN’s International Women’s Day Takeover is all about.
