Story

Syrian family re-settlement project.

Back in 2014 David Cameron announced that the government was going to re-settle 20,000 people in response to the Syrian crisis. Since then only a handful of groups within the community have united to help support and re-settle these families. This organisation along with its sister schemes rely on funding to survive. A bond of £9,000 is required to home a family however, there are many more additional costs such as furnishing their home, clothing, translators, school enrolment, access to WiFi -to communicate with their families back in Syria- and telephones.

Through my local church I have seen first-hand the transforming influence on the lives of those who come from nothing. The work of schemes such as this one are of paramount importance in allowing citizens fleeing from countries at war to feel protected and a sense of belonging. Our commitment extends over a 2 year period helping them to re-build their lives and become independent for the future.

I will be running a half-marathon in May to help resettle the family that is due to come in the spring. No person deserves to be driven from their own home as a result of conflict. No person deserves to feel unsafe. No family deserves to be separated.

Thank you all donations are greatly appreciated x
