Story
My name is Mark Connolly and I work at Travis Perkins, Wrexham. Earlier this year I was diagnosed as having prostate cancer. Since becoming a member of the Wrexham Support Group I am anxious to champion their aims of heightening the awareness of the disease and the need for more men in the region to get tested by asking their GPs for a simple blood test. There were typically 500 men diagnosed in North Wales in 2024 with Prostate Cancer. Almost 200 of these were from the Wrexham Area.
I am organising a sponsored walk through the centre of Wrexham City on Saturday 6th September called One in Eight. We'll be starting from The Turf at 12.30pm. After the walk family and friends are welcome to join us at The Turf Hotel to enjoy live music from The Declan Swans, a raffle, and maybe a pint or two! All monies raised will help strengthen the work of Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group who are raising funds to procure new modern HIFU technology for use at the Maelor Hospital. Some of the money will also be utilised to provide free blood tests for men in our area at an event in September.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit One in Eight JustGiving page.
