Story
As a Scout group we have been part of the Liskeard Community and many of the young people who live in its lives for over 60 years. We have been using our current Headquarters building for 50 years this year and in more recent years we have become a target of repeated vandalism and anti-social behaviour and conduct of some of the local teens from around the area and those using Pengover and Castle Park.
Most recently we have had the gutters and down pipes ripped off our roof and walls, our doors kicked in, our windows smashed and a hole ripped in our roof when perpetrators have been running up and down our roof.

The damage to the roof means that the room below is uninhabitable and not used for anything as it is wet, damp and potentially unsafe as the damage spreads from damp.

We have been quoted in excess of £2500 for the roof repairs alone, and once that is completed we will have to replace flooring, plasterboard. wallpaper and decorate the room to a basic standard which will cost money we simply struggle to source at the moment.

We are looking for financial support and trades people who might donate their skills and time to aid us in making our building free from wind and rain once again.
All and any help is appreciated. Thank you.

4 years agoWe have met our target. We have raised over £1000 to help us secure our ageing Scout Hut building. Your help and support has enabled us to install security measures to help deter would be vandals and alert us if there is an issue. We are however going to raise the bar! We have a hole in our roof that requires fixing after an individual was running around up there! Please keep sharing and supporting us as we look to the future of our building and of 1st Liskeard Scout Group.

4 years agoThanks to a lot of effort being applied by some of our Cub & Scout leaders this weekend we have been able to restore the Fire Circle to a more usable condition and it is looking nice once again. Thanks especially go out to Oli & Ashton who put in so much time and effort on their Bank Holiday weekend.

4 years agoIt’s only been a few days, but we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and goodwill from our friends, family and the community we serve. The money that has been pledged so far has already enabled us to install a CCTV system that covers our building and grounds. We have had offers of help to fix things by members of the community who just want to help, which is incredible. We still have damaged windows, doors, gutters and our big challenge is a leaking roof that was damaged by someone falling through when running on the roof.
