    Story

    Graveyard History:
The empty space was discovered by my maternal great-grandfather Dr. Bashir Fazel in the late 50's. He came to Bristol in 1925 from the Undivided Punjab, British India (Now divided between Pakistan & India). In 3 years time a century (100 yrs) since his arrival & settlement.

    Legal Establishment:
It was eventually approved of through his successful leading campaign, which invited other Muslims to part-take in. The section was a good size to bury those would-be-soon deceased Muslims. The 1st one of them being himself etched-on-stone 4 Apr. 1965, Grave No.1

Objective & Goal of Gravestone restoration (Now in '22):
Over the course of many years others have come to make it their final resting place. At top 8 gravestones representing those long deceased.
3 of those dearly departed in 1st set of pictorial row are my maternal relatives. The remaining 5 are non-related.
Collectively, the neglectful state of these gravestones speak for themselves. They're now in desperate need of maintenance. The personal inscription engraved on each headstone has either fallen/faded off since ones timely burial. This has made it difficult to identify their details. Dr. Fazel being the 1st Muslim of Bristol from the Indo-Pak Subcontient. A pioneering 1st generational Muslim leader. He helped pave the way for others i.e. my maternal grandfather (Bashir's son-in-law) Mohd. A. R. Khan (self distinguished by name/merit, early 50's)

Qn: Are we unified as a Bristol community to perserving our 1st Muslim Heritage?

If so then we can come together not just by words but by actions.

    Contributing factor:
Pls donate generously to this cause. Muslim/Non-Muslim. Welcome to all.

    Thanks thus far:
Other than me to A. Malik (Chairman of Easton Jamia Masjid), Anira (Sister), Ruksana & Aslam Funerals (Maternal-relatives). In the foreseeable future I would like to name others.

    w/ Peace, Love & Prosperity

    U. A. Khokhar
    (Maternal great-grandson/grandson of B. Fazel & Mohd. A. R. Khan)
