    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Growing up around the Handsworth, Lozells and Winson Green areas, I was exposed to many crimes such as gun crime, drugs and violence. I easily got involved in things that I should never had got involved in, but it became a social norm in the area. From the age of 7 I knew what prison was as my father was in prison, and as I got older more and more of my friends and people around me was going prison - it became normal. A few months or few years later they were out of prison and committing the same offences of what they went prison for.
I ended up in prison at the age of 15 for Section 18 and was sentenced to 4yrs in which I served 3 years and 4months. Leaving prison is a confusing and often chaotic time for many people. Short term plans, relationship breakdown, return to previous offending behaviours, family disputes and acclimatisation into public life is often overwhelming. Homelessness is a real and present danger due to the pressure that is put on the Probation Service, where most clients are not receiving the rehabilitation and the basic tools to prevent clients from re offending. What is clear is that there is a serious lack of housing and support options available for people leaving custody. Too often a lack of robust resettlement planning following release from prison puts people in a position that exposes them to previous addictions and a lack of financial security to re-enter secure housing and employment. 1st STEP REHABILITATION LTD have secured a four bedroomed house which is in the process of being refurbished to meet HMO standards in which we aim to temporarily house 4 people providing them with a secure and safe environment. 1st STEP REHABILITATION LTD will then be able to start helping in all areas such as:
    Benefits and money management
    Finding work, cv writing, references
    Relationship, help, children and family
Mentoring, someone they can talk to, and motivational speakers.
Life skills such as cooking, cleaning, DIY.
    Alcohol, drugs and depression.
