I've raised £800 to promote the '20s Plenty for Strathblane' road safety awareness campaign and tackle the issue of illegal speeding in Strathblane & Blanefield

A long running Strathblanefield Community issue which affects cyclists, walkers and pedestrians on the local roads and paths are the illegal speeds which cars travel through the region, and endanger not only other road users but all of the families and individuals living in the community.
Parents of school children are keen for them to commute to school by bike but are afraid of cars on busy roads; Strathblane Primary School pupils have tried repeatedly to engage with the council and police to address this issue, and Balfron High's limited facilities are in need of much improvement.
My family have been directly affected by this problem after moving to a house on the main A81 Glasgow Road. With no crossing, no driveway, a narrow kerb and no safe option to use a pram, park a car or a child's bike trailer, we risk our lives every day crossing the road to access the village. Cars, trucks, buses and farm machinery frequently travel through the 30mph centre of our village at speeds of up to 60mph.
The 20s Plenty for Strathblane campaign will raise funds to purchase and distribute promotional posters, flyers, bike stickers and wheelie bin stickers to residents in Strathblane and Blanefield. The campaign is run on a voluntary basis with reasonable costs reimbursed.
This project is supported by volunteers for Blane Valley Bikes. We call on all members of Strathblane Community Council, Strathblane Community Development Trust, parents, teachers, pub owners, shop owners, nursery care workers and residents for your much-needed support.
