Story
Help our young scouts reach the MSF Jamboree!
This July, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the 20th St Albans Ansar group are preparing for an incredible journey to the 3rd International MSF Jamboree. Being held at Gilwell Park, the historic home of Scouting, this event is set to be the biggest and most exciting yet, building on the massive success of previous landmark gatherings
Why this matters
The Jamboree is not just a camp; it is a legendary scouting experience and a unique platform designed to bring together young Muslim Scouts from the UK and across the globe. It is a rare opportunity to spiritually uplift, foster new friendships, and broaden horizons in a global setting.
For our young scouts, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to step out of their daily routine. They will meet scouts from different cultures, share experiences, and form international bonds that last a lifetime. From high-energy team challenges and workshops to peaceful moments of prayer, these residential experiences are the heart of scouting. They empower our young people, develop vital life skills, and build the confidence they need to become the leaders of tomorrow.
The challenge we face
We are fully committed to ensuring every single one of our 50 scouts has the chance to participate. However, we are realistic about the challenges many families are facing. The cost of living crisis is hitting households hard, and for many, residential trips are the first expense that has to be cut. We firmly believe that financial hardship should never be a barrier to a child’s development or their right to experience this adventure.
How you can help
We are aiming to raise £3,500 to cover the essential costs of the trip, including transportation, camping fees, activities, and the equipment needed to keep our group safe and comfortable. We are working hard to reduce the overall cost for our families, ensuring that every scout can attend without financial barriers. This fundraising effort is aimed at subsidising the trip to make it accessible to everyone, rather than covering the full cost outright.
Our scouts are not just waiting for support; they are working hard to earn it! We have a packed calendar of fundraising activities, including:
- Market Pop Up
- Cake Sales
- The Scouts Fun 5K
- Explorers Quiz
- Family Quiz
On top of this, some of our young people will be doing things like yard sales, lemonade stands, and personal challenges to raise money.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps us get closer to our goal. Your contribution directly supports a young person’s growth, their leadership journey, and their connection to a wider community.
Remember, if you are a business owner, you may be able to make a donation as a corporate gift and claim tax relief on it. Please get in touch with us if you would like to discuss sponsorship.
Please donate what you can or share this page to help us spread the word. Thank you for being a part of our scouting family and for investing in the future of our young leaders.
