Story

Hello, thank you for visiting our JustGiving page. We are the Brislington Centre, a residential ‘independent living’ training centre part of The City of Bristol College. We support students with SEN/additional needs to live an independent life.

Students learn independent living skills including budgeting, cleaning, maintaining personal hygiene and learn how to cook healthy meals. Students are given opportunities to socialise and plan events along with being equipped with employability skills.

We are fundraising to purchase outdoor gym equipment to encourage students to get active. We currently lack fitness opportunities therefore the equipment will greatly benefit the student’s overall health and encourage them to get outside. The equipment is said to not only aid strength, balance and cardiovascular fitness, however also benefit their mental health.

Our goal is to reach £3000, enough to buy 2 pieces of equipment! So how are we going to do this you may ask? A 24-Hour bike ride! Yes, we will be taking on a 24-hour bike ride cycling the distance from the Brislington Centre to London and back again. Staff and students will take it in turns to cycle from 6pm on the 26th of April to 6pm the next day. This will be a huge challenge for some of the students living with special educational needs and will be both a physical and mental challenge. Any donations will be gratefully accepted.
