Story
On 27 December 2017 Victora Stuart and Craig Allan will be taking part in a 24 hour sponsored skate at the winter 2017 Elgin Ice Festival. We are raising money for Friends of the Oak Palliative Care Centre in Elgin and to buy ice time for Caledonia Ice Skating Club. We will take to the ice together at 10am on 27 December and both stay there until 10am on the 28th of December. The challenge will be in any weather the north of Scotland can throw at us in December, and with the exception of meal/toilet breaks, we will not leave the ice for the whole 24 hours.
Half of the money will go to Friends of the Oaks. Friends Of The Oaks act as a financial support group and liaison between the Moray Community and The Oaks Palliative Care Centre. All funds donated to The Friends stay within Moray and go towards providing medical and holistic care equipment and many little extras which make life easier for The Oaks patients.
The other half of the money will go to Caledonia Ice Skating Club. This will allow the club to buy ice time at Moray Leisure Centre. Extra ice time will allow workshops and group lessons to take place but also mean that there is more time to invite guest instructors to come and coach the club, meaning it's members can progress further in their chosen discipline.
