Story

Little Red House Creative

was set up to bring arts and craft at affordable prices to the communities of South Birmingham. Through pottery and other crafts, people of all ages have come together to form community groups, making friends and learning new skills. The groups have become havens for those living with dementia, learning disabilities, sight loss and chronic illness. Loneliness and isolation now being tackled in the over 50s with new groups starting.

However over the years the community kiln at West Heath Community Centre has been well used and is now in desperate need of a refurbishment, with the elements and bricks needing to be replaced. Without a working kiln, the pottery classes will not be able to run. Our participants love the feel of the clay and the time they spend working on their projects gives them time to relax and forget about their daily lives.

On Saturday 27th July we are running a 24 hour craftathon to raise money to fix the kiln and replace worn equipment in the community groups and if enough left over supporting 7 young people from 1st Bournville, 100th Birmingham Scout Group go to Eurojam next year.

Rainey Community Creations , was set up in 2018 and helps to facilitate workshops on behalf of Little Red House Creative and together we are hoping that funds raised through the craftathon will enable us to expand further and offer further crafts and pottery across Birmingham and Worcestershire.
