Story

two years ago my dad had a car crash, and after being checked over at hospital and having numbers of test  done he had the news that  he  has  renal  failure  not  one  but  both  of  his  kidneys  were  only  10%  functional,  this  came  as  a  massive  shock  for  him  and  took  him  some  time  to  understand  what  was  happening.  He  was  suddenly  a renal  patient  and  was  in  and  out  of  hospital  and  then  had  to  come  to  a  decision   with  what  dialysis  route  he  wanted  to  go  down  to ,  after  involving  us  with  what  he  wanted  to  do  and what  would  be  best  for  him,  he  chose  to   have  peritoneal  dialysis  that   he  could  also  do  at  home  and  work  this   would   be  4  times  a  day  of  dialysis.  after  a  couple  of  bleeds ,  infections  and  more  testing  he  is  finally  on  the  right  track  with  his  dialysis  treatment.  he  was  then  told  he  need  a  new  kidney  and  he  would  be  put  on  the  list  to    try  and  get  him  a  kidney  ,  we  were  told  we  can  be  tested  if    we  would  like   to  help  to  see  if  any  of  us  would    be  a  match,  straight  away  said  I  would  try,  unfortunately I  wasn't  a  match  and  was  upset  by  the  result  and  felt  like  I had  let  my  dad  down,  it  took  be  a  while  to   say  you  know  what  I didn't let  my  dad  down  because  I  tried  .

This  is    where i  was  out  one  night on  a  dart  night with  friends and  we  came  up with a fundraising idea to help raise money for a department that does  so much for their patient and their family when you are faced with a life changing condition. The fundraising event we are doing is a 24  hour dart marathon. it is taking  place  on  Saturday 2nd June at  midday  going  through to Sunday 3rd June midday, with the help of friends, family, the local  community  and the land  lady of The stag pub we  can  do  this.

The landylady of the pub is 100% behind the event and has put so much into it to make sure it can happen, local business have also helped with donations of t-shirts and raffle prizes that we are also doing on the day.

All money made  between  now  and  then will  be  presented to my dad who is also raising money throughout the year doing different events and he also turns 60 in June and is having a big party and he has asked for no presents as he would like people to give him donations if they wish, for him to put towards his final amount to be presented to the renal unit at the end of the year.

I would like to thank you for reading my story and helping in raising money that can go to towards the final amount.

fingers cross my dad gets the news that amatch has been found and he gets a new kidney soon.
