I've raised £20000 to go towards treatment for Karen High who has stage 4 bowel cancer.

Hi,
I’m Karen, mum to Jack (25) and Sam( 22) and wife to Alan High for over 24 years.
In 2017 At the age of 51 I was diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer and the outlook was bleak with potentially a limited time of 12 months to live. Devastating to everyone I committed to fighting with everything I had to stay here as long as possible.
I underwent countless chemotherapies, major operations and hospital stays not to mention losing my hair on multiple occasions and 5 ½ years later I’m still here.
Unfortunately I have exhausted all the treatments available to me on the NHS and latterly have had to move over to the private drugs sector to access treatment not available on the NHS.
Fighting cancer is definitely a marathon not a sprint and Fraser, who have known since he was born, has set himself a challenge to match my marathon journey by committing to doing 30 half marathons in 30 days to raise funds for further treatments.
This is no mean feat and will take courage, resolve, dedication and determination to go the distance enduring significant mental challenge and I’m sure some pain along the way….in many ways it replicates my marathon journey living with cancer.
I remain indebted to everyone who has and is currently fundraising to give me the best options for more treatment, and which has undoubtedly given me valuable extra time. If it’s one thing I have come to realise through this journey, you can’t put a price on time!
I’m right behind you Fraser, every step of the way and I will keep you all posted on the outcome of treatments as I go forward.
Karen
Any money raised and not used for private treatment will be donated to Charities who support Bowel Cancer.
