Story

In 2016 Dylan Harper, former project leader of Lochside Mission, at the request of the Head Teacher of Braehead established ‘Project 5000’ to provide holiday meals for children in Ayr north; which is highlighted jn the Scottish Index of multiple deprivation as one of the most deprived localties in Scotland.

This work has continued since then with various partners including Unity Grill and South Ayrshire Council.

In January 2019, the project leader post of LMO was made redundant and a decision taken to draw back provision.

However in January 2019 thanks to the support of a local church much of the pre-existing work has continued under a new entity ‘The 10:10 Trust’ under the leadership of a small board including Dylan Harper as Chair.

The 10:10 Trust was formed with eight years of knowledge from the teams time as LMO, and the Board are determined to keep the much needed work continuing. This includes holiday meal provision.

The board of the trust following a period of discussions from our Treasurer, have been informed that Ayr St Columba church will consider selling the 316 Bus (used to deliver the holiday meals and activities) for a sum of £1,000.

We need your help to ensure we can carry out this critical service of providing holiday meals and activities to children, young people and families.

The board have committed to providing ten days of meals and actiivites alongside partners this Easter but require the 316 Bus to do so. Our initial offer was rejected and we now hope members of the public can assist in making a difference to local children.

If we exceed our £1000 target additional funds will be used to replace gaming and AV equipment which has been removed from the bus.

Together lets fight holiday hunger.
