Story

Now 52 years old, the single-glazed passenger windows of this heritage train are now life expired and leak, badly. This has caused irreparable damage to the interior, which is having to be completely refitted. Therefore we have decided to embark on a replacement programme with a UK based marine window manufacturer. Our first double-glazed, laminated window unit, of our custom design, which meets all modern production requirements for railway glass, is now ready for production.

These new units, with a stock of spares and consumables will keep our train watertight and futureproofed for many decades to come.

While we realise this may not be the best time to launch such fundraisers, heritage railways have suffered over the past 4 months, some almost to the point of closure. We must continue our work on these projects and not allow them to fall into such a state of disrepair where they may be lost forever.
