Story
Hi Everyone,
Myself and my partner Adam Fowle couldn't believe the shortage of PPE equipment amongst the NHS staff and care homes, we have friends who are doctors and nurses and who told us of their fear from having inadequate PPE equipment and in some cases no protective facial shields.
So we decided that we could help and use our 3D printer to make a simple yet effective face shield for any NHS staff that needed them.
I started by posting on Facebook explaining we were making them and asking of people wanted them, the response was amazing, so many hospitals amd care homes were eager to have the face shields.
I asked if anyone locally could help with their own 3d Printer, and within a few days we had Martyn and Sarah Chudley, Gary Cheung, and Ross Mcwilliam helping us.
We actually started making 3D printed face shields for the NHS just over a week ago, so far we have all made an amazing 641, which we have donated to hospitals, doctors, social workers, District nurses, care homes, paramedics and food banks.
We have had a huge response to my original Facebook post, and had donations of laminated pouches and some rolls of filament.
We feel that if anybody had even £1 spare and could donate to our cause, then with about £250 we could get another 3d printer on the go, doubling production for one of us, and if there were more donations we could even get a second printer.
We also continually need rolls of plastic filament too, so any excess money would be spent on this, and finally any money left over would be donated back to the NHS.
We are all doing this for free for NHS staff and funding it ourselves, so any help even a little would be greatly appreciated. The head band and face shield costs us around 65p for each unit.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Ali, Adam, Sarah, Martyn, Gary and Ross.

4 years agoThanks so much to all the supporters, we now have 7 of us printing the visors with our 3d printers, any surplus money will be spent on filament rolls for the printers, as we are going through these at a high rate between 2 and 3 rolls per person per week, and these cost £25 a roll, we then have to buy laminator sheets to complete the PPE visors. 😊 Thanks so much you are helping to save lives!!!!
