Story

Harvey has been suffering with the debilitating and chronic illness Myalgic Encephalomyelitis for four years. In 2017 following an infection Harvey’s illness became more severe and he is now house/bedbound most days. Harvey now relies on a wheelchair to move around when he is able to get out of bed. His life is very limited now, he is home schooled and very isolated. He has spent years of his short life like this and misses out on so much that should be part of every childhood. There is no cure for M.E, no NHS treatment and no medication to treat the many painful symptoms of M.E.

Before Harvey became unwell he was always outdoors, walking with his family and his dog Spud, climbing trees, playing sports, having fun with friends and Kayaking. Hes lost that part of his life now. His house has become his life. A group of truly wonderful people are taking part in the grueling National Three Peaks Challenge on the 6th June to raise money to provide Harvey with adaptions and equipment needed and the private osteopathic treatment to make life easier for Harvey and give him the best quality of life possible.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales. 23 miles in 24 hours. Its gruelling and exhausting but we are determined to do it, not just to raise much needed funds but to also have an insight on how exhausted Harvey feels all day every day when such small things like walking to the toilet can be as difficult as climbing a mountain. We really appreciate your help and financial support. It will make such a big difference to young Harvey practically and will also highlight the reality of living with this horrific illness that is currently incurable. The ME community are desperate to educate as many people as possible about this evil illness as medical research into a cure is so terribly underfunded.
