£850raised of £4,000 target by 12 supporters

Weʼre raising £4,000 to help 3 Derbyshire teenagers to rehabilitate primates in South Africa.

Milford, United Kingdom

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

We are 3 teenagers from Duffield and Milford, Derbyshire and in the summer of 2018 we have the opportunity to go on an adventure of a life time with our Mums to Limpopo, South Africa for 2 weeks to help rehabilitate primates to be released back into the wild. We have never had a chance to do anything like this and 2 of us have only been out of the UK once before.

The Riverside Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (RWRC) is a scientific primate rehabilitation centre in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Many of the primates at Riverside are orphans because of hunting, farming, laboratory studies and the illegal pet trade. The Riverside Centre hand rears and rehabilitates these animals so they can be returned to their natural habitat.
Volunteers from all over the world have been assisting with the daily running of RWRC since 2002. Without the help and enthusiasm of volunteers it would be much more difficult for the project to continue with all the daily routines, costs and maintenance. The daily food bill alone is a whopping £250! Whilst there, we will be helping in many aspects of the rehabilitation process, from daily cleaning and feeding to helping in the clinic, from field work to taking the monkeys down to the swimming pool for a swim.

This is an opportunity of a lifetime and one that we desperately want to be a part of. It is a way for us to test our capabilities, push ourselves to rise to new challenges, and gain a greater understanding in the difficulties that wildlife face when impacted by human encroachment.

We are so excited about this amazing opportunity and would be extremely grateful if you would consider donating to make this happen. The money raised would go towards making this dream come true and will help continue the incredible work that the RWRC do.

We are planning to do some fundraising activities/events later this year so we will keep you updated!

Please support us.

I am Oliver and Harry's Mum. I worked at a Gibbon rehab project in Thailand in 1996. It had such an impact my attitudes, and love of animals and the outdoors. To be able to give that experience to my children means everything to me and to have Justine and Flo join is fantastic
