Story

My birthday, for many years has generally been much of a non event. This year turning 40 I was planning on making a big deal out of it but with Covid restrictions and no current idea when life may be returning to some semblance of normality I've decided to abandon trying to organise a big party for June the 4th.

A lot of people seem to think your life is pretty much over once you hit 40, and I really want to prove to them that that's not the case. You can still do amazing things just because you're not a sprightly young thing anymore, and that no one gets to tell you when its time to lay down and give up.

SO....

I want to make my 40th birthday memorable in a different way and raise money for four different charities that reflect different aspects of my life.

Here's a brief bit about the 4 charities I plan to donate to, Each getting a quarter of what I raise here....

Heart Of Bucks Family Angel As a kid growing up below the poverty line I remember the impact on the family at suddenly not having a washing machine or struggling to afford educational resources, whether it was the electricty being cut off or not having money to afford fuel...A quarter of what I manage to raise will go towards helping families in immediate short term crisis in my local area.

Mindout The next quarter of whatever I manage to raise will go to Mindout A LGBTQ+ mental health charity. Over the years the majority of my closest friends all come under the LGBTQ+ spectrum. They have been a constant source of support to me even on my hardest days and so as a way of me saying thankyou I'd like to help support mental health which we have all struggled with at some point or another but especially in recent months.

The Campaign Against LIving Miserably Back in 2015 my best friend Ed killed himself. He was intelligent, kind, always putting others before himself and was very good at pretending nothing was wrong. He felt like he had to be the provider for his family and friends, had to be the tough man, the fixer of other peoples problems whilst ignoring his own....Then he was gone. A quarter of what I earn will go towards suicide prevention.

Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary Every year for the past five or so I've been part of a fundraiser for this animal sanctuary. Playing a 2 day little mini festival. Because of Covid their donations and visitors have all pretty much dried up so funding is super low and they're really struggling to help the animals they have there. So the final quarter of what I raise will go towards getting the animals some security and remembering the fun I've had performing my comedy songs there.

So that's it folks. If people would think perhaps about donating some change..it doesnt have to be a lot if lots of people donate a little bit I would maybe make my goal. Im gonna be doing a bunch of different fundraising events over the next few months. I only have till the 4th of June to achieve this before I turn forty and instantly crumble to dust, so please help me do something amazing in this crazy time.
