We are currently restoring LMS Black Five steam locomotive No 45163 at the Colne Valley Railway to get it back into full working order. We have recently had the cylinders machined and re-bored and a set of new connecting rods are currently being machined. The next parts that we will need will be new pistons and valves to suit the re-bored cylinders these are parts that were missing when we acquired the engine. We have received quotations for this work totalling just under £20,000, with some additional costs to come so we know that the final sum will exceed this amount. We therefore have alunched this appeal to raise funds to cover the bulk of these costs.
