Story

Hi, I’m Freya – a 17-year-old aspiring vet from Norfolk with a passion for wildlife conservation. Since 2017, I’ve followed the story of Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos, and this summer I’m launching 5 Peaks, 2 Rhinos, 1 Fight: a 5 Lake District Peak challenge to raise £1,000.

100% of funds raised will be sent to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. This is about raising awareness, taking real action, and doing my part to protect a species on the brink of extinction.

So why do we need to help? The northern white rhino is on the edge of extinction. Only two remain: both female and unable to breed naturally. Thanks to ground breaking IVF work at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 29 pure embryos have been created, and in 2023, the world’s first IVF rhino pregnancy was achieved. We are closer than ever to bringing this species back, but this cutting-edge work urgently needs support. Time is running out and if we don’t act now, the northern white rhino will disappear forever.
