Story

Sadly I never got to meet Charlie Craig but Charlie's story totally moved me as well as many people in the cycling world and beyond. He was a young man going places on two wheels...really big places. Charlie was a special boy who went to sleep on Friday the 20 January and didn’t wake up, he was 15.

I entered the world of competitive cyclocross with my 10 year old daughter Maisie in June 2017. Later that year whilst taking part in the Wessex cyclocross league I became aware of Charlie. I visited the Ride for Charlie website www.rideforcharlie.com to learn more about the talented young man and watched a video with his parents Nick and Sarah talking about Charlie - I cried and cried.

As I approach 50 I have decided to do 50 cycle related challenges before the big day! These are ranging from physical challenges like ascending and descending Snowdon with a bike, to more nerve racking challenges like mastering a unicycle, to creative challenges like making gifts for 50 friends out of recycled bike parts plus many more weird and wonderful challenges put to me by friends and family. You can find out more about my challenges here www.50cyclechallengesbefore50.com.

The Ride for Charlie Foundation has been set up by Charlie's parents Nick and Sarah and brother Tom to help aspiring young cyclists and to raise awareness for C-R-Y (Cardiac risk in the young) www.c-r-y.org.uk
