Story

We are going to be walking 50 miles in 24 hours to raise money for Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI)! The challenge is to set off from Chipping Norton on 14th April 2019 and trek three consecutive 17 mile loops around the Cotswolds. Our team members are Charlotte Taylor, David Gray, Eddie Gripper, Eliot Jones, Bob Roberts, Henry Gardner-Roberts, James Weir, Lee Hird, Lorenzo Ronconi, Louis Whitehouse, Megan Walters and Rowan Truelove.

Schistosomiasis (a parasitic worm infection) is a disease that affects at least 1 billion people around the world. Schistosomiasis can cause a whole range of urinary, neurological and digestive problems, and is estimated to cause 200,000 deaths every year. Despite affecting so many, it is one of the most neglected diseases, which is why we're fundraising for SCI. Every £1 donated can treat up to three people, and this has knock on effects: healthier lives, reduced sickness in schools and increased attendance.

SCI is also very transparent, and named as one of GiveWell's top charities. Read more about their track record here: https://www.givewell.org/charities/Schistosomiasis-Control-Initiative

This is a disease that can so easily be treated, and yet is so often forgotten. If our cause resonates with you, please consider donating to help contribute to our £250 target. Every little really does help. Thank you.
