Story

Poppy's Costa Rica ‘50p a mile Challenge’

I have been selected to go on a once-in-a-lifetime rainforest trekking and conservation/volunteering expedition to Costa Rica in summer 2019 as part of World Challenge ( a multinational organisation which provides worldwide, educational expeditions.)

To do this I have to personally raise a total of £2,700. I am running fundraising events (car washing, stalls at fetes/school, quiz sheets and babysitting) but am also requesting donations and sponsorship. The aim is to develop my fundraising and presentation skills as part of the expedition preparation process.

It’s 5,439 miles from Wateringbury to Costa Rica and I have to raise £2,700 – that’s the equivalent of 50p a mile to get me out there. I am therefore asking community-spirited businesses if they can help with my ‘50p a mile challenge’ by sponsoring a proportion of the trip:

200 miles = £100, 100 miles = £50, 60 miles = £30 etc

In return, I intend to promote the generosity and support of these companies in my promotional materials and news releases and post-expedition presentations.

I appreciate any help your company is able to provide.

Thank you for your support!
