From the 20th to the 24th of August this year my Dad, my brother-in-law Kris and myself will be running the John Muir Way in aid of Maggie's Care Centre in Edinburgh and Ward 2 at Belhaven Hospital in Dunbar.

We are raising this money in memory of my Mum, Elaine. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April last year and after a short but brave battle, she sadly passed away in September at Belhaven Hospital. Even through this difficult time Mum always looked forward to going to Maggie's whether it was for emotional support or for a fun activity like receiving a makeover!

Mum spent the final weeks of her life in the fantastic care of the nurses in Ward 2 at Belhaven Hospital. It was important to have her so close to home due to the large amount of family members that wanted to see her.

The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles from Helensburgh to Dunbar. We are aiming to run this in 5 days (roughly a marathon a day). We are not the only ones challenging ourselves though. My sister Yvette will be running 5 half marathons in 5 days. My other sister Yvonne will be running the final marathon and a few people will be cycling the full route in 2 days! There will also be people who are walking part of the route.

Together we want to raise as much money as possible to say thank you for the support that not only mum received, but for the support we received as well. We also want to be able to help so these places can continue their work in helping families who have gone through a similar situation to us.

The final amount raised will be split 50/50 and given to Maggie's and Belhaven Hospital.
