Fireside K9 is a small charity started by a West Yorkshire Police Dog Handler some years ago to provide financial assistance towards the medical costs of treatment for retired Police Dogs. These dogs have worked most of their lives to help keep communities safe and bring offenders to justice. Once they have retired the onus is on the handler to pay for any required medical treatment with no financial assistance from the Police force they served. Insurance companies will generally not take on board these animals and those that do are exremely expensive. Fireside K9 helps out with some if not all of the fees incurred for treatment of a retired Police Dog when a request for assistance is received. The charity covers all retired Police Dogs in the UK. Any donation, however small..would be gratefully teceived.
