Story
On the 16th of August my brothers Alex, Arthur, and I will be taking on the 5 Peaks Challenge, with our dad Nick in support, in memory of our brother Alfred.
Alfred was the kindest, funniest, and most unique person we knew. Endlessly curious, he had the rare gift of taking an interest in every person he met, no matter the situation, and making sure that the room was always filled with laughter and fun. In March 2023, he ended his life, and his death has been an unimaginable loss for all his friends and family.
In his memory, therefore, we are undertaking the 5 Peaks Challenge in order to raise awareness for the mental health struggles faced by so many young people and to prevent such tragedies from happening again. This involves climbing the highest peaks in each of the five countries of the British Isles within 48 hours.
We are raising money for Brainwaves. This foundation aims to improve young people’s wellbeing through some of the widest-ranging scientific research into adolescent mental health in the country. Using this information, and in partnership with schools, they hope to provide essential evidence-based education and support for as many young people as possible and raise awareness of the devastating effects of neglecting one's mental health.
Thank you so much for the support – any donation means the world to us.
Love, the Evans-Lombe family
