Story
Hi I'm Steve and I'm an injured serviceman. Throughout 2019 I will be completing 5 challenges to raise money for 3 fantastic organisations:
1. 24 hours - as many ascents of Snowdon as possible carrying 44lbs. 6 Jul 19 - 3.5 summits completed.
2. 24 hours of continuous Fan Dance (24km special forces test march) carrying 44lbs. 11-12 October.
3. 24 hours - as many ascents of Scafell Pike as possible carrying 44lbs. 3 Aug 19 - 4 summits completed.
4. 24 hours - as many ascents of Ben Nevis as possible carrying 44lbs. 3 summits completed.
5. A Channel distance swim. Date Tbc.
In 2007 I was involved in a major accident that left me with a moderate brain injury and PTSD. I spent a fair amount of time at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, when it was at Headley Court in surrey, gaining a lot of support for a complex shoulder injury, as well as my brain injury and so I want to give back to them. The money raised will fund a number of trips for patients which are invaluable in their recovery, as I experienced.
Rock2Recovery do a lot of work with both serving personnel and veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Dissorder. Given that I have suffered with this myself and with more and more veterans committing suicide due to PTSD, this is an organisation I want to raise for. There are many many more out there who require the services of this great organisation!
Finally, there's Scotty's Little Soldiers who offer support to bereaved service children. With the number of deaths in recent conflicts there are a large number of service children who will require the services of this amazing charity for years to come. They look to provide opportunities for children to smile again through fun activities, development opportunities and also support.
Money split between these three worthy causes.
I'll be documenting my training and the challenges on my Instagram account 5to3challenges.
Thank you for your support, Steve.
