Story

We are a group of reasonably lazy friends who have decided to come together to do something that none of us will particularly enjoy in order to raise some money to support Ocean and her family. We have signed up to take part in the Brighton half marathon in February 2022, which means not only will be running 21km we will be doing it in the middle of winter! Although it is all in and of a very good cause!

Ocean is a amazing young girl who has unfortunately spent a huge part of her short life in and out of hospital due to ongoing health issues. From a young age Ocean experienced a number of health issues including infantile spasms, however in January 2021 Ocean and her family received the devastating and life changing news that Ocean had been diagnosed with RETTS syndrome, a rare and complex genetic, neurological disorder.

Ocean has been surrounded by an amazingly loving and supporting family, including her amazing mum (Kaomi) and dad (Tom, who is one of the runners!), and big brother Finn who was crowned Highworth Citizen of the Year in 2020 for his fundraising efforts for Swindon Hospitals Children's Unit. However, supporting a young, poorly child takes a huge toll on a family physically, emotionally and financially. This year alone Ocean has sadly spent months at a time in various hospitals, including fighting for her young life in ICU Oxford.

We as a group of friends wanted to come together to try and raise some money to support a family who are going through a tough time, and try to make life just a little bit easier in any way that we can. Any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Much love,

Jonny, Tom, Jack, Kurt, Jammy and Luke
