We are a small group with beavers, cubs and scouts. We are based in ls14 part of Seacroft & Whinmoor area. We have survived the last 8 years month to month and with the generosity of our leaders who have often paid our rent or yearly insurance out of their own money so we can continue. We are all volunteers offering the local children a chance to learn new skills and have amazing experiences such as a visit to an airport to go in a plane in a hanger thanks to JET2. We go on various camps as a whole group and as sections. Most of our equipment was given to us when the group started which we have always been grateful for. However over this last winter virtually all our tent equipment was destroyed by some rats that set up home in our storage area. So this now all needs replacing. The other equipment we have also is now in need of replacement simply due to wear and tear. We would so like to be able to buy new equipment which will see us through another 8 years or more. We would also like to improve our storage to make it more secure and weather proof (as well as rat proof). We also would ideally like to purchase new equipment to use with activities and badge nights. With our rent at £106 per month and insurance around £1700 per year we do not have much left over. We as leaders try our very best to give the children a varied programme with what we have but know that we could give them so much more if we had the funds to do so.
