S/Insp Jonathan Edwards 7341 passed away suddenly on Tuesday 10th September 2024 having become suddenly unwell on Saturday whilst on duty. He was 62 years old.

He joined the South Wales Police Special Constabulary in 1997 and generously gave his time to support many teams including learning & development (LDS) and most recently the roads policing team (RPU). He would regularly represent South Wales Police at public events and was recognised for his commitment with commendations, awards and letters of thanks. Jon's dedication was incredible. This year he had already volunteered over 500 hours and in 2023 he exceeded 1000 hours - far and above what is expected.

All our thoughts are with Jon's wife Janet and their children Matthew, Kelly, Cerys and Rhys.

Jon's family wish to raise funds for the Acute Stroke Unit at the University Hospital of Wales in order to purchase equipment for the facility. This page has been set up with the express permission of Jon's family and any funds raised will be passed directly to them.
