Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Imam Al Ghazali (May Allah have mercy on him) wrote in one his books called ‘The Beginning of Guidance’, “What good is an increase in wealth when life grows ever shorter? Therefore, be joyous only for an increase in knowledge or in good works, for they are your two companions who will accompany you in your grave when your family, wealth, children and friends stay behind.” This passage has always struck me for its precision and clarity.

Seven Kings Mosque was opened in 1993. It has seen an extraordinary growth in the number of people attending the mosque. The people running the mosque deserve the highest respect and admiration in handling the huge influx of Muslims into the area in the last few decades.

The mosque is currently undergoing an expansion and this fundraising effort is in relation to assisting financially with that extension project.

My late uncle [Malik Ghulam Rasool] and my late father [Mohammed Azam] were regular attendees at this mosque and the amount raised will be a sadaqa jaariyya for both these individuals and for my late Uncle Mohammed Akram also. May Allah (swt) make their graves from the gardens of paradise and bless them with a high station in the hereafter.

The cost of the mosques extension is £396,000 and even though the mosque has spent a huge amount on getting this far, they are still short by around £160,000.

I hope we can hit the £5000 target….and remember, only be joyous for that which you have sent ahead. Before making a donation take a minute to focus and remember that Allah (swt) bestowed your wealth upon you and that you giving some of it to build His house (the mosque) as an act of gratitude.

And in matters, Allah (swt) alone grants success.
