Story

I will be attempting to complete the Brighton Marathon in April in full frontline uniform, boots AND Primary bag (13.5kg).

The challenge is to represent the cumulative stress, compassion fatigue and secondary trauma we carry on a daily basis.

I will be raising money for the:

Dan Mole- a friend and collegue who has a recent diagnosis of Liver Cancer- funds will help build so e memories for Dan and his family. Dan has dedicated his life to the Ambulance Service!

South Coast Sea Gods- a selsey based safe place for men to meet, chat and dip into the sea. South Coast Sea Gods is a community interest company which exists to improve men’s mental health and help prevent male suicide by creating a supportive community through outdoor connection, shared experience, and honest conversation. We use the power of nature, movement, and brotherhood to help men feel stronger, calmer, and less alone. We organise weekly sea dips, recharge wellness taster days and adventure days out for men.

Adventure 999- Founded in 2019 by Natalie and Jamie Ironmonger with the aim of helping to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of Emergency Service workers through adventure and conversation. With almost 50 years of Frontline service between them, they know firsthand just how important it is to maintain your physical and mental wellbeing.

Adventure 999 seeks to bring together Emergency Service, Frontline and NHS staff to inspire each other and create opportunities to just put on your walking boots, and get into the outdoors.

Adventure 999 helps to provide boots, gear and funds for those wanting to join trips and more importantly, it offers a safe space for peer to peer conversations to take place. It’s somewhere to offload your trauma without judgement and to realise that you are not alone. Taking on adventures and personal challenges really does have the power to change your life, it helps to maintain positive mental wellbeing in new and exciting ways. From work boots to walking boots, Adventure 999 is there to help you achieve this.
