I'm raising £432 to fund the recycling of 72kg of medicine tablet blister packs over the next 3 months.

Many of us have regular prescriptions and have no alternative but to use medication supplied in medicine tablet blister packs. These are usually not recyclable in kerbside recycling and so end up in residual waste. As part of Aylsham Climate Emergency we want to help residents recycle these by collecting them and sending them directly to a recycling plant. However, with no corporate sponsorship from global pharmaceutical companies, this costs money. How much? About 2.5p per pack according to Terracycles estimations. So, we are raising funds to make this possible and doing everything we can to make the money go further, even putting them through a mangle to fit more in each recycling box! I want global pharmaceutical companies to change their packaging for tablets so that they stop using mixed material blister packs and switch to waxed paper or double sided foil which can be recycled in our kerbside recycling. So please donate* to help recycle these mixed-material blister packs and, more importantly write to the makers of this packaging asking them to change. Thank you.
*Please note that fees are taken by justgiving of 25p + 2.9% per donation to this fund, regardless of how much you donate. So, small regular donations will not raise as much money for us as a larger donation made once a year for example. We' are of course very grateful for any donations made and thank you for your support.
