Story
Save Taxi needs your help to raise funds for Alex, who suffered a life changing debilitating accident 7 years ago.
Terry, a London cabbie, recently picked Alex up and got chatting about their situation and condition. On arrival, Terry watched Alex crawl from the roadside to the building as they have no wheelchair! Alex had been told there is at least a 3 year wait for an electric wheelchair due to funding cuts in the borough of Islington. Terry was so horrified, he posted in our Facebook group and asked for help to raise funds to get Alex the electric wheelchair so desperately needed.
Alex's accident left them with spinal paralysis unable to use their arms or feet amongst other horrendous injuries. They are very alone and have had very little social care or support. They suffer such excruciating pain and medical ordeals on a daily basis!
Before the accident, Alex had worked with many charities & is extremely creative, achieving an art foundation & first class honours degree in architecture 🎓.
Alex's passion for London Black Taxis began while at Uni when one of the students made a film about the Knowledge and everything you have to go through the get your badge!
That was the day they stopped using mini cabs and knew they would be safe with no more sexual harassment and fear. This is extremely important to Alex, as they were severely sexually abused as a child and knows how important it is to want to feel safe!
Alex has proactively campaigned to TFL and the Mayor on the trades behalf because they are so passionate to help in any way they can! They also do whatever they can to warn people of the dangers of Uber and the reasons why!
Alex has been totally failed by the government and social services. This is our little thank you in return for Alex's support and because nobody should have to struggle and go through what they do just to survive.
Please donate & share the link to help make a difference & give Alex this life line!
Stronger together ❤️

8 years agoThank you to everyone who has donated, every bit helps. Honestly the gift you are about to give me is beyond life changing and giving me my freedom, but also will help reduce my pain and asthma attacks, it will also remove the constant fear of falling and the humiliation that comes from it. And in a couple of months hopefully I will also have that with a new flat too instead of crawling around the floor trying to get about. It takes 8 working days to release the funds. I promise to post photographs as soon as possible in my new wheels thank yo
