Update on Andrea.
We wanted to share an update. While this period has been incredibly challenging for our family, we have received some bittersweet news that we wish to share with you all.
A package containing some of Andrea's personal effects has finally reached us. These items include heartfelt letters, treasured photographs, and a few keepsakes that she held dear during her time in Indonesia. While these belongings bring us a measure of comfort and a tangible connection to Andrea, they also underscore the profound loss we feel in her absence.
Despite this bit of solace, Andrea’s ashes are in fact missing from the package. The uncertainty and distress of not being able to lay Andrea to rest as we intended weigh heavily on our hearts.
We hope to soon have more positive news to share regarding Andrea's ashes and finally bring her home to rest in peace.
.…
In the far east of Asia in 2012, Andrea, a promising 40 something, with dreams of a better future, found herself entangled in a legal nightmare far from home. Andrea was sentenced to serve time in an Indonesian prison, far removed from the familiar comforts of family and legal rights. As the months turned into years, whispers of neglect and mistreatment echoed through sparse communications, painting a grim picture of the conditions she and countless others have endured. Reports of overcrowding, lack of medical care, and inhumane living conditions fall on deaf ears, buried beneath bureaucratic indifference and international red tape.
Tragically, Andrea’s health deteriorated under the weight of neglect and systemic apathy. Despite pleas for medical attention, and ultimately, transfer to the UK, cries went unanswered. And then, in a devastating turn of events, news arrived that shook the foundations of hope for Andrea’s loved ones back home - Andrea has passed away, a victim of a system that failed to protect her rights and dignity.
“Our beloved sister tragically passed away while imprisoned abroad, leaving us not only devastated by the loss but also burdened with overwhelming financial hardships directly linked to her imprisonment and subsequent passing. Andrea was more than a family member; she was a beacon of love, strength, and support in our lives. Her sudden departure has left us grappling not only with profound grief but also with unexpected financial obligations that we are struggling to meet. The circumstances surrounding Andrea’'s imprisonment and passing have resulted in significant debts for our family. These debts include legal fees, international repatriation costs, and other unforeseen expenses related to managing Andrea’s affairs and honoring her memory. We are reaching out to you, our extended community, for support during this challenging time.
Sadly during Andrea’s sentence abroad, we suddenly lost our Mum, and Mark underwent major heart surgery.
Your generosity will directly contribute to alleviating the financial strain we are facing and allow us to focus on grieving & healing.
Legal Expenses: Settling outstanding legal fees related to Andrea's case and navigating complex international legal procedures.
Repatriation Costs: Covering the expenses associated with bringing Andrea's remains back home to ensure a dignified farewell and closure for our family.
Debt Relief: Easing the financial burdens accrued as a result of Andrea's imprisonment and passing, providing us with much-needed relief and stability.
Family Support: Assisting with essential living expenses, counseling services, and funeral arrangements to honor Andrea's memory appropriately.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on our ability to overcome these challenges and move forward as a family. We deeply appreciate any support you can offer, whether through donations or by sharing our campaign with your networks to help us reach a wider audience.
Any additional contributions will be used to help the wonderful prisoners abroad charity to campaign for helping other families to overcome the injustices in holding British prisoners with deteriorating health conditions.
Your support means the world to us as we navigate this journey”
