    Story

Since my children have attended Swarland Primary School in the North East of England, I have noticed and attended numerous fundraising events the Teachers and Parents relentlessly organise to raise funds for the school. This fundraising provides additional equipment and facilities to enhance the kids comfort, safety and enjoyment while at the same time creating a stimulating environment for them to thrive in their development years.

I found it great that last years fundraising for the school managed to raise just over £2800 BUT its just not enough to improve the kids playground! So on the 17/06/17 I will be aiming to complete the endurance event “The Wall” in order to raise additional money which will be used to carryout the much needed revamp to the school playground. When signing up to this event I thought, how hard can it be to cover 69 miles of challenging terrain in 24 hours along Hadrian’s wall!? As I try to build up my running miles I suspect the answer is going to be its painfully difficult, especially for the larger framed individual like myself! As the event gets closer, miles seem be getting longer so I decided a plan B may be necessary...Plan B being to rope my Sister Cate, who many of you will know from Dene House Farm into the event In the in the hope at least one of us will make it passed the finish line within the allocated time. We will both be attempting the full 69 mile distance however it does help that Cate is a full time Pilates and fitness instructor, definitely increasing our chances of success!

Cate and I have a target of £1 million but £3000 would be a good start!
I know money is already accounted for in many households so just give what you comfortably can.

Unfortunately Swarland School has been struggling to raise these funds. We know it will make a huge difference to the kids so I have personally paid my £195 entry fee with Cate supporting as well as Sweat, very probably tears (from Cate) hopefully no blood to the cause.

    Thankyou

Quick update everyone, we are just under £2200 across all forms of donations which is a fantastic achievement, a HUGE thank you again to all who have donated. There is still money dropping in and we will finish fundraising on the 21st of July and will notify the school of the final amount on the last day of term. Thanks again Andrew

Guys what can I say apart from this event being one of the toughest physical challenges I have ever attempted and successfully completed. I cant thank you all enough for your generosity and support. The Heat, terrain and overnight run made the 69 miles pretty brutal but I managed to pass the finish line at 23:07:41. I now have my feet up (well what's left of them) with a cold beer to rehydrate. We have a few days left of fundraising and then we will have a final total. Thanks again everyone especially my sister Cate.....she truly is a machine!
