Story

Four mates are funding our own trip to cycle from London to Paris in September as part of an organised event. This will see us cycling around 340 miles in 4 days between the 27th and 30th Sept , but we are taking the opportunity to raise funds for 2 charities that are very important to us.

Sam Myatt Memorial Fund (Sam 17)

Sam Myatt tragically lost his life in a car accident at the age of only 20. He was the loving son of Liz and brother to Charlie and Henry. He was also a babysitter to my kids and a member of their football team, acting as a mentor and referee to the younger players. Sam was a fantastic young man and it is a tragedy that he lost his life at such a young age. Half of the funds we raise from this trip will go towards the creation of a memorial to honour his life. The memorial will be a new pavillion for AFC Gnosall that has recently achieved planning and the majority of the fund is now in place to commence the build. The Sam 17 logo is based upon Sam's shirt number for AFC Gnosall.

Marston's Charitable Foundation

The Marston's Charitable Foundation works with pubs in communities across the UK and supports them centrally with their local fundraising activities. This can be in the form of donations, equipment or event support. The Foundation have kindly sponsored the cycle shirts for this event to ensure that whilst we are going through the pain, we will at least smell sweet and look as good as 4 middle aged men can!

Both worthy causes will receive 50% of all donations received from this trip.

Thanks in advance for any support you feel you can give. We are 4 middle aged blokes trying to get a bit fitter and hoping to help these worthy causes along the way. Training has been underway for some months and will continue throughout the Summer.

Wish us luck!!

Thanks
