I've raised £500 to remember our baby, Aria Florence Brewster, and to help other families in our situation receive the same amazing support that we got.

Story

On the 12/04/2024 at 18:27, baby Aria Florence Brewster was born at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth sleeping.

Despite this being the hardest time of our lives, thanks to the incredible staff at the Nightingale room, it was also one of the best times of our lives.

If it wasnt for the incredible work of our midwives and consultants: Carol, Rachel, Jess & Chloe, this time would have been unbareable, however, because of these incredible ladies, we saw our short time with Aria as some of the best moments of our lives. These midwives will always stay in our hearts and memories being the most amazing credit to the NHS and their families. Sadly, the Nightingale room at the hospital is incredibly underfunded, with the furniture in the rooms being donated by previous families and the midwives, with the staff struggling to find equiptment due to the hospital not providing correct storage facilites in the room. In our effort to help, 50% of this fundraiser will go to purchasing equiptment needed for the Nightingale room in memory of Aria.

In addition to the incredible midwives, there is a huge amount of charity support for families in our situation. One charity that stood out to us significantly was 4Louis. This charity provide memory boxes for families, including items such as: clay foot & hand molds, whisp of hair boxes, teddies for the family and baby to swap, blankets & more. This box is vital for families in a time of shock and grief to capture memories of their baby to hold on to forever. More importantly, these are free of charge to all families in the nightingale room. Each box can be donated in memory of a baby for £30, this is why the remaining 50% of the funds raised will go to purchasing memory boxes, as well as donating to the charity and purchasing pin badges from the charity for the funeral, to allow everyone to have something small to remember Aria and a an incredible charity with, as well as ensuring other families will have the ability to capture memories like we did.

Thank you for the support,

Nick, Fionn & Aria
