Story

Making a Difference: Just in Time

After teaching in mainstream education for 12 years, I knew that the system was not working for some of the most desperate young people. Frustrated by the lack of opportunity to address my students' social and emotional needs, I made the move to Alternative Provision.

The school's work around pupils' behaviour is impressive. Pupils engage well with their learning." (Ofsted 2021)

Aspire AP Schools, our vision is to provide an engaging academic environment for young people at a crisis point in their education to access the help they need. We equip students with the metacognitive and emotional tools to succeed in education and beyond. Ofsted agree that we are a GOOD provision for students aged 11-16.

Parents and carers cannot praise staff enough for the care they provide their children." (Ofsted 2021)

Our values are Providing Support, Creating Opportunities, Enabling Achievement and Building Resilience, so that every young person can be empowered to achieve their best. As a charity we are not directly funded by the government, but rely on raising funds in other ways. Be assured that all donations will be given to the Governing Body: Ecclesia International (Charity no: 1148134)

I will be running the Birmingham Half Marathon on 4 May, with an aim to raise £1000 for Aspire Education. It will be my first race for several years, so I've had to get a lot of dust off the old trainers, but I should be able to complete it in under 2 hours :)
