Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.

Story

BAWC is pleased to announce our first field project. We are working with experienced raptor workers to tag birds of prey in the north of England. The aim will be to study birds of prey and to gain evidence of raptor persecution in known persecution hot-spots. Technical field testing has already been carried out and we expect the first birds to be tagged by licensed raptor workers this season. We hope that you will understand that we need to be rather tight-lipped about exactly what we are planning to do, where we are planning to do it and especially who is involved. Even those who kill raptors can use the internet!

Will you support this project and help reduce wildlife crime? We need to raise £19,000 in the next six weeks to get this project off to a flying start in 2017. Please give us your support.

Yes, we are trying to raise more! Following the early success of the fundraising, and the messages of support we have received we contacted the fieldworkers to confirm the next stages, and to discuss making the project bigger. We are excited to say that the initial work is underway and we have decided to up our target to enable the project to tag more birds. If you have already donated please consider sharing this page with friends and colleagues. More updates will follow as we progress. And again we are grateful for all of your support.

Friends, we have just passed the target we set only a short time ago. We have been overwhelmed with the comments and the response to our appeal. So what happens now? The target we set was the minimum we needed for a viable project of this type. Heartened by the response of this community to what we want to do we are now able to say that we are aiming to make the project bigger, every penny raised in excess of the target will be used to further the project objectives - so, once again thank you for donating, and watch out for our next update.

We are now on day 3 of the fundraiser and just passed 80% of the total. The messages that are being left are incredible; knowing we have community support is worth as much to us as the donations. Also every penny counts, we realise we may have been modest in our ambitions now, so let us assure you, the community, that everything we raise over and above the target will increase the size of the project. We will continue to fundraise through February into March. From all of us at BAWC, and on behalf of the fieldwork project team, THANK YOU.
