Story
Bannockburn Rugby Club’s first pre-season challenge has been announced, with senior players choosing to take on the North Coast 500 (NC500) route as a team.
Starting on the first day of June and lasting the entire month, the team has just 30 days to complete the virtual 798-mile route, departing from the Bannockburn clubhouse.
Participants can run, walk or cycle Scotland’s answer to Route 66 – taking in sights such as Applecross, Durness and John O’Groats – before returning to Bannockburn via Fortrose and Loch Ness.
Tracking miles
Players will be logging miles with the help of fitness tracker Strava to record their activity, with the coaches generously promising a case of beer for the best performer.

Fundraising
As well as keeping fitness levels up over summer, the team will be exercising to raise money for club members who have lost work or are unemployed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The pre-season challenge announcement comes after Bannockburn raised more than £600 for NHS Forth Valley through a series of sponsored exercises in April and May.

4 years agoBoys are still pushing out the miles on Tour De Caley, The leaderboard is mega tight just now with split hairs the difference. As we near the end of June the Lads this month have smashed a total of 1170 miles between the Virtual NC500 and starting Julys challenge of Tour De Caley a little early. It does mean as July starts we still have 633 miles to go. If you see any of the guys out running or cycling be sure to cheer them on. Also massive thanks for all our donations so far. in particular a special thanks for the anonymous £100. Cheers
