We are a small voluntary community group providing care food and shelter for a colony of feral cats. We have a small patch of land with makeshift shelters that acts as a hostel space for up to a dozen everyday regulars, with upward of 15 more visitors that pass through for food. We have been caring for the colony for about two years now and visit to feed the cats every day, rain or shine.

Balsall Heath is an inner city Birmingham suburb with a particularly high density of cats, many of which live outside. The descendants of pet cats, ferals have usually been born outside and have very little contact with humans. Cats can survive in the wild but are prone to malnutrition, disease spread through mating and fighting and illness through exposure.
We feed the cats daily, every day, and maintain shelters with straw bedding. We are also involved with the Cats Protection's Trap Neuter Return scheme to help control the population.
